Owner/Speech-Language Pathologist
I am the owner of Communication Station and a licensed, certified speech-language pathologist practicing in the Greater New Orleans area.
I have years of experience in speech-language pathology and specialize in early intervention, working with autistic children, addressing speech and language delays, social-emotional development, problem-solving through communication, speech-sound disorders, and facilitating communication through alternative-augmentative communication (AAC) systems.
My past experiences have taken me to public schools and private clinics, where I spent the first years of my career honing my skills and learning to harness the power of play and connection to best serve my clients. These early experiences ignited a passion in me to undergo specialty training in the Developmental-Individual Differences-Relationship based (DIR®) model and applying its principles in my sessions through the practice known as "Floortime."
Since first discovering DIR/Floortime®, I've held its principles close to heart and I've gained a deep, holistic view of children, the nuances of development, and how each person requires something different in their support needs. While DIR/Floortime® was originally introduced as model intended to help anyone who works with developmentally delayed children, I've found its principles to be highly adaptable to the field of speech therapy. By simply focusing on the power of meaningful connection and following my client's lead, I'm able to highlight a child's strengths and focus on their potential for continuous growth.
I am committed to treating the WHOLE child. I strive to ensure that my therapy meets children exactly where they are so I can help them successfully navigate their own "developmental roadmap." No two people are just alike, so no two sessions should be just alike!
To learn more about what DIR® is, and how I use it support clients and their families, see the "Services" page.
